Pimples can be a bother for anyone, no matter their age. They not only mess with how you look but can also make you feel bad about yourself.
Dr. Geetika Srivastava, a skin doctor and the founder of Influennz Skin and Hair Clinic, says pimples are a big part of acne. They're those red, swollen bumps that often have white or yellow stuff in them and can hurt a lot. Pimples happen because your pores get clogged up, there's too much oil, bacteria get in, or your skin gets all inflamed.
When you see a pimple, you might want to pop it, but that's not a good idea, says Dr. Srivastava. Popping a pimple can make things worse for your skin.
Here's why: When you pop a pimple, you push all the yucky stuff inside it deeper into your skin. That can cause problems like more pimples, dark spots, or scars. Plus, when you touch a pimple, you can put germs from your hands into it, which might make it infected.
Sometimes, if you keep popping pimples, you might end up with bigger, more painful ones called nodules and cysts. These are tougher to treat and can cause more problems.
So, instead of popping pimples, here are some tips from dermatologists to help you manage them:
1. Know your skin: Pimples can happen to anyone, not just people with oily skin. So, figure out what type of skin you have, and then pick the right skincare products.
2. Spot comedones early: These are the start of pimples, so learn how to find them on your skin.
3. Use anti-acne gel properly: Put a thin layer of gel on all the spots where you might get pimples, not just on the red ones.
4. Keep your makeup tools clean: Dirty makeup brushes and sponges can cause pimples, so wash them often.
5. Clean your phone and pillowcases: Wipe your phone screen and change your pillowcases regularly to stop germs from causing pimples.
And remember, everyone's skin is different, so what works for one person might not work for you. If you have lots of pimples or they won't go away, it's best to talk to a doctor. (Via)
